Sno-Dags Program

The Sno-Dag program will now be held at the Northwoods Ski Trails at 3131 Golf Course Road, Rhinelander.

Registration for SnoDags is now being offered free of charge.   But we still need you to register so follow the link on this page.

However,  a parent or guardian must be a member of the Northwoods Nordic Ski Club (NNSC) for insurance purposes.  Either an individual or family membership will meet this requirement.  Only one single or family membership is required per family.  To purchase  your membership,  CLICK HERE

The Club membership must be purchased prior to participation in the first SnoDag practice on January 7th or participation will not be allowed.

TIMELINE:

• 3:45 p.m.  Arrive at ski trails to get skiers ready, get boots on, use of bathroom.  We will be outside for over an hour. There is a porta potty at the trailhead.
• 5:00 p.m.  Ski fun is concluded and skiers will be picked up by parents.  The Coaches and Volunteers will not leave the ski trails until all skiers have been picked up.  Please be timely.

SKI EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING (what to bring):

Ski equipment:

• Classic no-wax skis, boots and poles must be brought each week.

Equipment Rental:        Ski equipment rental is available and will be conducted on Tuesday, December 17th from 3:30 – 5:00 pm in the Team Meeting Room of the Hodag Dome.  We want the kids to have equipment to use over the Christmas and New Year Holiday break.  While we have a good selection of equipment, we cannot guarantee that we will have the right equipment for all skiers.  The cost to rent boots, poles and skis is $30.00. 

Outdoor clothing: 

• Skiers should have proper outdoor apparel and multiple layers.  This includes base layer and outer shell, hat and mittens or gloves.  Clothing worn for outdoor recesses at school will likely suffice.  If we are fortunate, we will have some warm days and be able to peel off a layer.  

PROGRAM COMMUNICATION:

• E-mail will be the primary form of communication.  You will receive periodic updates, reminders, any schedule changes, etc., as necessary.  Parent and emergency contact numbers will be at practice.
• As a general rule, practice will be canceled if it is colder than 5 degrees or if school has been canceled.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT – SAFESPORT AND BACKGROUND SCREENING

It is an absolute must that skiers be checked in and out from the Sno-Dags ski activity.  Please notify one of the coaches/volunteers if your skier needs to leave early or has an alternative pick up person.  We require advanced notification if there is to be an alternative pick up person for your skier.

We welcome parents to ski with their child during the session.  However, in compliance with Northwoods Nordic Ski Club’s policy, all parents that volunteer to help at practice or accompany any group of kids other than their own, must complete an on-line Safe Sport course and background screening through the School District of Rhinelander (SDR).  The Clubs policy and links to the appropriate Safe Sport training can be found on the Hodag Nordic Forms and Policies Web Page. 

Please contact us to discuss this requirement as we always need Parents to assist with classes and do not want this to be an impediment to getting the help we need.
